  1. A FEW INTERESTING (AND NOT SO...) FACTS ABOUT RAINBOW 1.2:

  4. RAINBOW was first published in December 1993 (v 0.5), which makes it the
  5. first "Falcon only" paint program ever. Version 1.0 was released in Mars
  6. 1994, v 1.1 was released in June 1994 and v 1.2 was released in
  7. September 1994.
  8.  
  9. RAINBOW is the only art package where you can change screen resolution,
  10. monitor type, vertical frequency and overscan from within the program
  11. without losing any work.
  12.  
  13. RAINBOW offers a unique quickchoice palette which gives you immediate
  14. access to more colours than any other program is capable of. And it
  15. only takes one mouse click to change all colours in the palette.
  16.  
  17. Another feature you won't find anywhere else is the possibility to
  18. rearrange the user interface completely, at any time without damaging
  19. your work.
  20.  
  21. RAINBOW comes with a built-in photo studio, and there will be a whole
  22. bunch of additional built-in studios in the next version.
  23. Needless to say, you may switch between the studios without data loss.

  25. You can choose between eight tool types in the picture studio, but since
  26. each one of them has an individual set of modes and effects the actual
  27. number of tools reaches well over 100.

  29. RAINBOW supports the Tabby graphics tablet (our built-in driver uses
  30. less than 1/50 of the memory that the original driver uses), and you
  31. don't need the original supplied driver at all.

  33. There are as much as 48 different levels of magnification (1x-48x),
  34. that work with all tools and operations still available.
  35.  
  36. RAINBOW is programmed entirely in assembly language, which makes it
  37. fast and reliable.

  39. And speaking of fast... we compared our picture loading with a Falcon
  40. compatible, GEM based, paint program that works (at least for a few
  41. minutes...) when run from a true colour desktop. We won't reveal its
  42. name though... Anyway, here's the results:
  43. Uncompressed Targa: RAINBOW 5 times as fast as the other program.
  44. Compressed TIFF: RAINBOW twice as fast as the other program.
  45. Uncompressed TIFF: RAINBOW 4 times as fast as the other program.

  48. RAINBOW 1.2 is a very powerful art package that offers you quite a lot
  49. in terms of user friendliness, speed, flexibility, value for money etc,
  50. but our intention is to make this program even better.
